DON’T MISS THIS YEAR’S COPTIC FESTIVAL: Egyptian Christians celebrate their faith, raise funds for a new church

Free Family movie night Saturday, September 23

The local Coptic Church of Virgin Mary & St. Pachomius is holding their annual Egyptian Festival at 3 Swim Club Rd in Stony Point.

The festival started last weekend, September 16 & 17 and continues through this weekend, September 23 & 24. Church leaders said they hope to raise awareness of their presence in the community to stay actively engaged with the town and surrounding area.

It’s a good opportunity for those interested in Egyptian culture to learn more about the rich history of the Coptic faith by attending one of the guided church tours and information sessions at the festival, church leaders said. Come on out and visit. The growing church congregation moved from Spring Valley, NY in 2007 and have called Stony Point home since then.

The church invites people from the community to a free family movie night under the stars. Disney’s “MOANA” will be featured Saturday, September 23 at 7:30 p.m. There will be free popcorn offered, food and drink will be available for purchase to help raise funds for construction of the new church.
