Burglary Arrests Announced in Clarkstown

On May 24, 2017 at 10 p.m., the Clarkstown Police Department responded to a report of a burglary at the Rt. 59 Car Wash, located at 257 Rt.59 in West Nyack.

A witness called the police to report suspicious people in the area of the business. The caller knew the business was closed for the day. Responding patrol units conducted a search of the building and apprehended two suspects inside the building. Both suspects were taken into custody without incident and over $400 of stolen money was recovered.

The suspects, John Carlos Veras, 21, of Nyack and Angel Gomez, 22, of Nyack were transported to police headquarters for processing. It was determined that Veras was a former employee of the car wash. They were charged with third degree burglary, petit larceny (misdemeanor) and fifth degree criminal possession of stolen property (misdemeanor).

Both were arraigned in Clarkstown Justice Court. Bail was set for Veras at $25,000 and for Gomez at $15,000. They were transported to Rockland County Jail.
