ROCKLAND REACTS: CSL Found Guilty on 20 of 22 Charges, Will File Immediate Appeal

The long tenure of the seemingly politically invincible Town of Ramapo Supervisor Christopher St. Lawrence has come to a screeching halt.

St. Lawrence has been found guilty in White Plains federal court on 20 of 22 corruptions and securities fraud charges levied against him by federal prosecutors.  It took a jury a little over a day’s time to reach their verdict.

Though his lawyers informed the court of the irintention to file an immediate appeal, by law, the supervisor must leave his position in government.

The other question of the day is, how will Ramapo move forward from here?

Rockland County Executive Ed Day responded simply and truthfully to the news:

“Holding public office is a privilege. Any public official found guilty of breaking the law has violated that sacred public trust. The conclusion of this jury that the Ramapo Supervisor broke the law is a stain on the town and all of Rockland County. We support every effort to restore integrity to Ramapo.”
