Funding Secured for New Playground at Summit Park Elementary in East Ramapo School District

From the Office of Senator David Carlucci

NEW CITY– As efforts to improve the schools in the East Ramapo District continue, Senator David Carlucci (D-Rockland/Westchester) announced he has secured $70,000 of State funds to rebuild the playground at Summit Park Elementary School.

“Rebuilding the playground at Summit Park Elementary School will help the teachers and faculty continue to build on the recent successes in the district,” Carlucci stated. “Research has shown that there are a number of benefits for children as a result of regular recreational time and by providing a new playground they will be able to continue their development.  I look forward to working with Dr. Wortham, the administration and faculty of each school throughout the District to continue giving kids the quality education they deserve.”

“We are extremely grateful for the continuous support of Senator Carlucci.  He is committed to the success of our District from repairing the roof to engaging rigorous instruction and helping the students of East Ramapo get a complete education.  The Summit Park Elementary community understands the educational value of recreation time for students and is thrilled the students will now have a new playground thanks to our Senator.  Obtaining these funds was a group effort that also could not have been accomplished without the Principal, teachers and other community activists that all agreed how critical this need was.”

“The Summit Park family thanks Senator Carlucci for helping fulfill the ERCSD mission of a unified community by securing funds for a new playground. This playground, in combination with the district’s Health and Wellness initiative will help to develop the whole child as they Conceive, Believe and Achieve their goals in their journey to go “all the way up,” added Principal Kim Hewlett.
