STONY POINT – Colleen Woods, a Stony Point resident and former North Rockland School District employee, was having a wonderful life until doctors broke the news to her about her inexplicable health concerns: It was  non-Hodgkins Lymphoma.

Colleen’s brother, Tim Duffy, is an active member of the Stony Point Fire Department and has arranged for the  blood drive to be held at the Stony Point Fire Sub-Station on Saturday, April 29 from 9 a.m.  3 p.m.  (199 Central Highway)

For more information, or to sign up to donate, please visit www.nybc.org and click on “schedule donation.”  You can also call 1-800-933-BLOOD (2566). Please remember to eat and drink well prior to coming to donate and bring your I.D. with you. If you have a New York Blood Center Donor ID card, make sure it’s handy.

“We hope everyone will come out and help our neighbor and friend,” said Supervisor Jim Monaghan. “She works with us at Town Hall now and she’s so brave, keeping it together while she goes through chemo. We’d like to show her Rockland cares about its own.”

The event is being sponsored by the Stony Point Police, Stony Point Volunteer Ambulance Corps and Wayne Hose Company. Turn out to help a fellow Rocklander! Blood is the gift of life, and many of us can spare a pint!
