Ribbon-cutting for “Catch on the Hudson,” new waterfront restaurant in Havestraw

BY JEREMY MOONEYHAM

Many were on hand for the North Rockland Chamber ribbon cutting ceremony at Catch on the Hudson, 16 Front St. in the Village of Haverstraw last Saturday. Haverstraw Mayor Michael Kohut was among those at the celebration.

Owner and Chef Steve Lauterbach grew up in New City and had worked in some of the finest restaurants in New York City before opening Catch on the Hudson situated next to Emeline Park and overlooking the Hudson River. The restaurant features a cozy fireplace in winter and will offer a working dock for summer guests traveling by boat.

The 16 Front St. location, which is owned by the Village of Haverstraw, was the home of Civile’s Venice on the Hudson for many years until Hurricane Sandy wiped the restaurant out. Civile’s ownership chose against enduring the long rebuilding process.

Catch is the second tenant since the village restored the beautiful location. For an updated menu and weekly specials visit www.catchonthehudson.com.
