PRESS RELEASE – Good Samaritan Hospital, a member of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network and Bon Secours Charity Health System, has partnered with local non-profit agency Center for Safety & Change to make the holidays brighter for 25 Rockland families. Good Samaritan Hospital sponsored 25 families who have been affected by violence and served by Center for Safety & Change. Each family will receive brand new holiday gifts for every family member. “Our mission at Bon Secours Charity Health System is to serve as community partners,’” said Bon Secours Charity Healthy System CEO Mary P. Leahy, M.D. “It brings us great pleasure to do just that by collaborating with Center for Safety & Change to provide comfort and joy to Rockland families in need this holiday season.”

Dr. Leahy was honored by Center for Safety & Change with a Distinguished Citizen Award in May 2016 for her leadership of Bon Secours Charity Health System and her longstanding commitment to supporting victims and survivors of gender-based violence in the Rockland County community.

“We are so grateful for the collaboration we have with Good Samaritan Hospital and Bon Secours Charity Health System,” said Center for Safety & Change Executive Director Elizabeth Santiago. “Not only is Good Samaritan Hospital making a difference in the lives of the families we serve with this generous holiday donation, but they provide outstanding care for victims and survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and other crimes year-round by providing a home for the ‘Spirit of Rockland’ Special Victims Center and support for our Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner program.”
