NANUET HIGH SCHOOL NAMED ONE OF AMERICA’S BEST: EARNS NATIONAL BLUE RIBBON HONORS!

U.S. Secretary of Education John B. King Jr. on Wednesday designated Nanuet Senior High School as a National Blue Ribbon School for 2016. Nanuet Senior High School is being recognized as an “Exemplary High Performing School” as measured by performance on assessments referenced against national norms. Nanuet High is among 329 public and private elementary, middle, and high schools recognized by the Department of Education for overall academic excellence this year.

Nanuet School District Superintendent Dr. Mark S. McNeill said, “Being selected as a Blue Ribbon School is an incredible honor. It validates and confirms our dedication to excellence and continuous improvement in our district. The exemplary performance as a high school would not be possible without the commitment of such a professional group of faculty members, a committed contingency of parents and diligent students. We are honored to be considered one of the top high schools in the nation.”

Board of Education President Dr. Sarah Chauncey said, “This honor is recognition of the thoughtful strategic planning and continuous improvement our district has embraced during the past several years. Building a solid foundation of excellence in vision, implementation and results doesn’t happen overnight. It is truly a team effort. Congratulations!”

The U.S. Department of Education will honor 279 public and 50 private schools during a special awards ceremony on November 7 and 8 in Washington, D.C. In its 34-year history, the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program has bestowed this coveted award on more than 8,000 of America’s finest schools.

A community celebration of Nanuet High School’s national honor will take place during the regular meeting of the Board of Education on Tuesday, November 15 at 7:30 p.m. High School Principal Dr. Vincent Carella will be made available during the event for interviews, along with select faculty and students.

Nanuet Senior High School is a nationally recognized public school serving 713 students from ninth through twelfth grades and is accredited by the Middle States Association Commission on Elementary and Secondary Schools.
