Light sentence for Tress

DA’S PRESS RELEASE

On September 1, 2016, Samuel “Shmuel” Tress pleaded guilty in the Airmont Justice Court to Official Misconduct, a Class “A” misdemeanor offense after resigning his position as Town Councilman for the Town of Ramapo. His resignation was a condition of his plea agreement with the District Attorney’s Office. He also received a $500.00 fine and must give a sample of his DNA.

Tress was allocuted and admitted that in May of 2015, as a member of the Town of Ramapo Zoning Board, he voted in favor of giving eight zoning variances to property in which he had a financial interest. He also admitted that he did not disclose this conflict of interest to any other members of the Board.
