NYACK – Orangetown police are seeking witnesses to an early-morning shooting that left a 26-year-old man wounded from a shooting at the Nyack Plaza housing complex in downtown Nyack.
Police said the man was shot in the leg at about 1:15 a.m. on Sunday, with the man telling investigators he was wounded as he was walking home.

The shooting victim, police said, was found during an investigation of reports of gunfire in the area of 100 Nyack Plaza, located just off Franklin Street and Depew Avenue. Police saw people running from the area and during the investigation stopped a car that was seen leaving the area.

Inside that car, police said, was the wounded man, who was being taken for emergency treatment. The shooting victim was taken to Nyack Hospital, where police said he was treated and later released.

Orangetown police and members of the Rockland County Sheriff’s Department Bureau of Criminal Identification examined the area of the shooting for evidence. Orangetown police said they are seeking anyone who may have seen the shooting to assist in their investigation.

No information was available on what sparked the shooting.

Anyone with information can contact police at 845-359-2121.
