NORTH ROCKLAND RUN/WALK FUNDS DISBURSED

fpAt the Haverstraw Town Board meeting this week, the three recipients from the 13th Annual North Rockland Community 5K Run/Walk were presented each with a check of $9,500.

Each recipient has serious medical needs and these funds were made possible by the numerous local businesses and participants from the 5K fundraiser this past June.

Supervisor Howard Phillips said, “We would like to thank all of our sponsors and those who participated in our 13th Annual North Rockland Community 5K Run/Walk. We were able to help three families who each have a family member with a severe illness. This event has raised over $300,000 since its inception in 2004. We also had the wonderful opportunity of recognizing Fr. Thomas Madden, Stu Gates and the Italian American Social Club for their years of service, dedication and commitment to the people of North Rockland.

“Special thanks to Coach Joe Casarella, Athletic Director of North Rockland, John Casey, Chair of the 5K Committee and all the members of the committee. Also, we would like to thank the volunteers who helped out at the 5K including Haverstraw and Stony Point staff, members from the Haverstraw Youth Board, volunteers from the North Rockland Central School District, North Rockland Marching Band, North Rockland JROTC, the RC Police Hispanic Society, Police Youth Explorers and Nam Knights of America. We are greatly appreciative to the Nam Knights of America and both Town Police Departments who escort the recipient families to the park the morning of the 5K before the race.”

The North Rockland Community 5K Run/Walk committee is chaired by Haverstraw Town Supervisor Howard Phillips, Stony Point Supervisor Jim Monaghan and North Rockland Athletic Director Joseph Casarella.
