The sixth annual United Latin Festival of Haverstraw will be held next Sunday, August 7 in the Village of Haverstraw. There will be several notable persons and organizations from the North Rockland community that will be recognized. The honorees this year are:
Grand Marshal – Ileana Eckert
Parade Godfather – Lidio E. Bautista
Parade Godmother – Adelia Rivera
International Godmother – Arlette Phillips
Latin Honoree of the Year – Jose “Nacho” Alfonso
Latin American Students of the Year – Destiny Hernandez, Jandra Arias Tavarez and Jhonyy Sanchez
Humanitarian of the Year – Jose David Martinez
Businesses of the Year – Hood, Hood & Hood and Head Start of Rockland, Inc.
The parade will begin at 12 p.m. in front of Emeline Park, proceed to Broadway, and followed by a festival at the Haverstraw Elementary School lot off of Partition Street in Haverstraw. The festival will feature live music, food vendors, business vendors and nonprofit organization booths. The United Latin Festival of Haverstraw Committee hopes that local residents and visitors are able to join in the festivities and this celebration of Latin culture. This is one of the largest events in Haverstraw and will be held rain or shine.
