CAR SMASHES HOUSE IN NEW CITY

2 1A local senior lost control of his vehicle backing out of the New City Burger King parking lot and caused residents of an adjacent home one heck of a headache.

At approximately 6:20 p.m. Tuesday night the Clarkstown Police Department responded to 11 Third St. in New City, a commercial and residential building, for a report of a vehicle that smashed into the building. Responding units observed a 2003 4-door Toyota had crashed into the northwest corner of the building. An 84-year-old New City man was the sole occupant of the car and was not injured.

Occupants of the building were able to exit the building without injury.

New City FD, Clarkstown Building Inspector and Orange and Rockland responded to the scene. CPD said the town’s building inspector will continue to investigate the structural integrity of the building to determine its habitability.

At this point of the investigation, there were no tickets issued nor an arrest made.
