Satyen Shah has been in the food business for over 20 years. When he was out in California in early 2015 helping out his cousin with his business he was a frequent visitor at a local PizzaRev. Then he thought to himself that a PizzaRev would be something that would do well on the East Coast. He saw that they were franchising and began to look more into it. A year later, a thought Shah once had is now becoming a reality.

PizzaRev officially opened its doors up on Wednesday, June 22 to Rockland customers. The new Nanuet restaurant on Route 59 in the Toys R Us Shopping Center is the first of several franchise locations Shah has planned for the Rockland/Bergen area. Shah describes PizzaRev as “a very community oriented company. We give back to the community and help provide jobs for people.” Shah has a staff of 25 employees for the Nanuet location and hopes to increase the number as the business grows.

On Thursday, June 23 from 11 a.m. – 10 p.m. PizzaRev will host a ‘Pay-What-You-Want’ Fundraiser for People to People. During this event, customers are able to pay any amount they want for their first pizza and all donations will benefit People to People.

Diane Serratore an executive director with People to People encourages people to show up and support the event on Thursday. “This location will be competing with a PizzaRev in Tennessee in raising money,” said Serratore.  She is hoping that this event will be the first of many for the Rockland location and is hoping to see a high turnout at this event.

PizzaRev is a distinctive “Craft Your Own” pizza place. They started off in Los Angeles in 2012 and they have been growing ever since. Customers start off by choosing their own crust for personal 11” pizza.  They have the option of choosing either an original or gluten-free crust. You then get to choose from four signature sauces, including an organic marinara, creamy white alfredo, and a spicy-sweet BBQ.

Then customers choose from over 30 fresh ingredients to add on to their pizza. No matter how many ingredients are selected, every pizza is only $8.25. What is most impressive about PizzaRev is their speed of service from start to finish. The process from ordering to enjoying your pizza will take anywhere from three to five minutes. The pizzas are thrown into the 900-degree stone hearth oven which helps gets the pizza ready for the customer. They also offer salads where customers can make their own salads for the same price.

“There is a great buzz going around, our Facebook and Instagram page have been blowing up. A lot of people are excited that this concept is coming to Rockland County,” said Shah.

Burk & Barbara Steinberg of West Nyack were impressed by the Pizza that PizzaRev had to offer. “The pizza was outstanding, very different, a thin and crispy pizza,” said Burk Steinberg. “It’s convenient that is so close by, it is something different,” added Barbara Steinberg.

With a wide variety of different options and an affordable price, PizzaRev hopes to become the go-to place for pizza lovers in Rockland County. Make sure to head out to PizzaRev and ‘craft your own’ pizza, you definitely won’t be disappointed.
