Thruway Authority to field questions on New TZ, June 15 at Nyack High School

The New York State Thruway Authority has hosted public meetings regarding the New TZ project for many years now.

The next round of public meetings, called an “annual meeting,” has been announced for Tuesday, June 14 and Wednesday, June 15 in Tarrytown and Upper Nyack, respectively. The June 14 session will take place at the Washington Irving School in Tarrytown and the June 15 session will take place at Nyack High School. Both events will run from 6:30 – 8 p.m.

Engineers and project managers from Tappan Zee Constructors and other entities associated with the proejct will be on hand to explain progress on the bridge. The $3.9 billion project is progressing according to the plan laid out in late 2012 and early 2013, with any controversies generally centering around impact of the bridge’s landing area on local neighborhoods and the future toll rates over the span.

Bridge constructors say the project is on schedule for its anticipated 2018 completion, with one of the two spans open in the first half of 2017, less than a year from today.
