ORANGETOWN PBA SEEKS “HOPE FOR BRIAN”

Open Letter to Friends of the Orangetown PBA,

We would like to cordially invite you to our “Never Give Up – Hope for Brian” night, benefiting little Brian Domitrovits, hosted by the Orangetown PBA. The event will take place at The Knights of Columbus in Blauvelt, NY on Saturday June 4, 2016 from 6 – 11p.m. As many of you know, Brian Domitrovits II, an honorary member of the Sparkill Firehouse, was diagnosed with Ataxia-Telangiectasia (“A-T”) in August of 2014. A-T is a rare, genetic, fatal disease for which there is currently no cure. A-T combines the worst symptoms of muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy, cystic fibrosis, immune deficiencies, and cancer. Children with A-T are usually confined to wheelchairs by age 10 and often do not survive their teens to early twenties.

Brian’s parents have a long history of giving back and serving both our community and our Country. Brian’s mother is a teacher who has worked tirelessly to better the lives of countless children in our community. Brian’s father is a police officer with the Orangetown Police Department and is an Army and Iraq combat veteran. They have dealt with their son’s fatal diagnosis and every parent’s worst nightmare with both dignity and grace. These wonderful parents have somehow turned the worst news of their lives into a battle of awareness and a fight for a cure of this rare genetic disease. Now, they need your help!

Young Brian has a long and difficult road ahead. One filled with necessary equipment for daily living and adaptive home modification to help him maintain some independence, some sense of normalcy and hopefully some comfort. This event is focused on helping alleviate some of the costs that this family is facing to help improve Brian’s quality of life as the disease progresses. Brian and his family cannot get through this without your support. It is our turn as their friends, neighbors, and good citizens in our great community to assist them now with their tragic struggle.

That is why the Orangetown PBA hopes to see you at this community event in June. Join us for a cause like no other; a parent’s fight for their child’s life.
