Senator David Carlucci (D-Rockland/Westchester) will hold a 5K Fun Run/Walk tonight, May 19, 6 p.m. at Rockland Lake State Park to raise money for the Larisa Karassik Foundation.
Last May in Warren County, New York, Felix Festa Middle School student Larisa Karasik was killed when a vehicle driven by a drunk driver drove through a stop sign and crashed into her car. Larisa was an active member of Senator Carlucci’s Student Advisory Committee and had just weeks earlier traveled to Albany to participate in the Senator’s annual Mock Session on the floor of the Senate. Larisa’s mother, Anastasia Karassik, formed the Larisa Karassik Foundation, which helps families who are in need of food, clothing, emotional support, etc. following a tragedy as well as raise awareness on the dangers of drunk and drugged driving.
Over 100 runners and walkers are expected to join Rockland Road Runners at Rockland Lake for the event. Contact Justin Devendorf 315-491-7564 with any questions.
