dr mike and dr gilWhen Dr. Michael Cocilovo began his Chiropractic practice in New City in 1986, a gallon of gas was only $.89, a new Mustang would set you back a mere $7,500, the Dow Jones was at 1,895, the technology for email had just been invented, Star Trek IV had been released, and the Mets had just won the World Series.

Thirty years later, some things have changed quite a bit while others have remained the same. The Mustang is as popular as ever, but the cost to purchase one is quadruple what it was in ’86, the Dow Jones average, although down from recent highs, is nearly nine times what it was then, space travel movies continue to draw huge audiences, and the Mets… well, we know how that went last year.

2016 marks the 30th Anniversary for Dr. Mike as he is known among patients, colleagues and friends, and his New City Chiropractic Center office, and 30 years later, his commitment and dedication to his patients’ wellness has remained steadfast. It is a milestone that will be celebrated with a yearlong schedule of healthy activities and fun events. The focus of Dr. Mike’s office has always been on wellness and resolving pain naturally. He, his partner Dr. Gil Rodriguez, and his staff, believe in educating patients so they can take an active role in improving their overall health care and enhance their quality of life. Many patients have turned to his office for care for years and even decades.

“To say I am grateful to the people who have helped me reach this momentous anniversary, it putting it mildly,” stated Dr. Mike. “In 1986 I had no idea that 30 years later I would be celebrating with some of the same individuals who I treated back then as well as their children and even grandchildren. We intend to show our gratitude over the next 12 months and look forward to the next 30 years in Rockland.”

New City Chiropractic Center will host quarterly Happy Hours in their office with the first one taking place Friday, January 29 from 5 – 6:30 p.m.. They will also host a series of healthy workshops throughout the year kicking it off with one on nutrition on February 4 in their office from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. In addition to providing comprehensive chiropractic services for patients of all ages, they also offer weight loss support with the NuLean system and will add Lipo Light Advanced Slimming and Toning aesthetic treatments beginning the first week of February. Individuals who sign up for NuLean will receive several free Lipo Light treatments.

Dr. Mike will present a workshop at Pearl River High School through their Continuing Education Department titled “Back School”, providing tips for lifting and bending at home and at work. The program, ideal for anyone who has suffered back pain in the past, is two sessions, February 23rd and March 1st and more information can be found on the Pearl River School website at www.pearlriver.org .

New City Chiropractic Center will also host a stress relief workshop in their office on Thursday, March 10 from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. and provide tips on reducing stress through proper posture and breathing, exercise and nutrition.

One activity that they are inviting all of their patients to participate in is the annual Keep Rockland Beautiful Great American Clean Up. “Our goal is to coordinate a team of 20 people and spend the day cleaning up an area of New City. It’s a great community project and a good way to stay fit and be outdoors,” stated Dr. Mike who added that all patients who participate will receive a free chiropractic treatment in their office the following week. He also pointed out that chiropractic is not just for treating pain, but should be used proactively to get ready for a sports activity, maintain limber muscles and even identify areas which could become problematic in the future.

More information on all events and activities can be found on their website at www.newcitychiropractic.com. The yearlong 30th Anniversary celebration will culminate with a dinner for patients and friends at the end of the year.
