To the Editor,
Regarding Ramapo Councilman Daniel Friedman’s recent campaign to terminate Bernard Charles from his employment as Assistant Recreation Activities Coordinator, Mr. Friedman argues that Mr. Charles should lose his job because he did not pass Civil Service exams for two completely different job titles.
Mr. Charles has not had the chance to take a Civil Service exam for the Assistant Recreation Activities Coordinator position because the exam has not been offered while has held this title. Mr. Charles is like any other Civil Service employee working who works provisionally in a position until an exam for that specific position comes up. He must be given the chance to take this exam, not be improperly targeted due to the status of a completely unrelated Civil Service exam.
