Suspicious person reportedly posed as a cop in Clarkstown

NEW CITY – A suspicious man reportedly accosted two Clarkstown teens by claiming to be a police officer, according to Clarkstown Police.

The incident occurred at around 3 p.m. on September 10 when two 14-year old boys were approached by car while they wre walking along Goebel Road near Scher Couty in New City. The man stated he was a police officer and asked the boys if they needed a ride.

As per his claim, the man showed the boys what appeared to be a badge, though it is not known if it was real or which agency issued it. Nonetheless, the teens declined and the man drove off without incident.

Police launched an investigation and notified the Clarkstown Central School District after they were contacted by the boys’ mother on September 15. The boys described the man as a white male in his 20s with short hair and a beard. He reportedly drove a red car, possibly a Nissan, with an Army bumper sticker on the bumper.
