WEST NYACK – A 22-year old Spring Valley man was arrested this weekend for brandishing a loaded .22 caliber revolver during an argument with another man at the Palisades Center.

Justin Saul Marrero was arrested on August 29 after a dispute at the mall. Police were called to the mall’s Crocs outlet shortly before 7 p.m. when it was reported that Marrero, who had been arguing with another individual, had raised his shirt to display the pistol tucked into his waistband. Marrero allegedly threatened to shoot others as well.

When Clarkstown police arrived at the scene, they found two individuals matching the description of the suspects, including Marrero. Marrero fled the scene, prompting a foot chase which resulted in a shoulder injury to one police officer when he lost his footing on an escalator. The officer was able to continue his pursuit and the suspect was apprehended in the mall’s parking garage.

Marrero was charged with second degree assault and second degree criminal possession of a weapon, both felonies. He was also charged with resisting arrest and second degree menacing, both misdemeanors, and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.

Bail was set at $15,000 and Marrero is due back in court on September 2 at 1:30 p.m.
