READER LAMENTS RETIREMENT ADVICE LOOPHOLES

Dear Rockland County Times,

It is bad enough that anyone should be subject to advice from financial professionals that puts those advisors’ own interests above those of the investor. But is is even worse that retirees, who depend on their investment income for their daily living needs, can be taken advantage of by these same unethical financial advisors due to loopholes in the government’s financial regulations.

It’s time for our legislators to close those loopholes and protect people whose money was earned by their own hard work. And it’s time  for ALL financial advisors live up to the highest standards of their  profession — and earn their living by putting the interest of their  clients first.

Sincerely,

Steve Caccavo
