WEST NYACK – A man with a fraudulent Connecticut driver’s license was arrested at the Palisades Center Mall on July 7 after he attempted to use it to buy several smartphones, police said.

Julio Sosa-Villanueva was arrested last week at the mall’s Best Buy when he allegedly tried to use the card to buy four iPhones, a total value of $3,599. However, the card would not swipe at the register, prompting Clarkstown Police to investigate.

The police determined the card and license were fraudulent and Sosa-Villanueva was arrested and charged with third degree attempted grand larceny, second degree criminal possession of forged instrument and second degree forgery, all felonies.

Bail was set at $15,000 and he was remanded to the custody of the Rockland County Jail.
