Nanuet man accused of using computers at New City church for online trading of child porn

NEW CITY – Sheriff Louis Falco III announced the arrest of John B. Wu, of 17 Charles Street, Nanuet, on June 17, following a six-month investigation by the Computer Crime Task Force.

wu,johnThe Task Force routinely monitors the Internet with respect to child exploitation and online trading of child pornography. During the course of the investigation, the Task Force identified the suspect who was downloading and trading Child Pornography utilizing a server located at the Parish Offices of the Germonds Presbyterian Church located at 39 Germonds Road, New City.

A search warrant was executed at the Parish Offices on April 21, which resulted in the seizure of computers and related equipment. Wu, who provided computer services to the xhurch, was arrested following a forensic examination of the evidence seized at the Parish Offices.

The staff at the Germonds Presbyterian Church cooperated in the investigation.

Wu was charged with Promoting an Obscene Sexual Performance by a Child, in violation of Section 263.10 of the Penal Law of the State of New York (Class D Felony). Wu was arraigned by Clarkstown Town Justice Ascher. The Clarkstown Police Department Detective Bureau assisted in the investigation.
