Memorial Day Observance

At 12 p.m. at the Frederick Loecher Veterans Cemetery on Brick Church Road in the village of New Hempstead, the Rockland County Veterans Coordinating Council invites everyone to the Memorial Day Observance. A secondary service will be held at the Gary Onderdunk Veterans Cemetery on the grounds of Rockland Community College.  at 1 p.m. Afterwards, the Veterans will walk down a path to the Korean War Veterans Memorial to pay respects. Memorial Day Parade & Ceremony
At 9 a.m. the Village of Hillburn’s Annual Memorial Day Parade and Service will originate at the Ramapo Central School District Administration and will proceed through the Village to the World War I Monument (corner of Lake Avenue and Fourth Street) for the Memorial Day ceremony.

Memorial Day Parade
At 11 a.m., the Village of Suffern and The Fromm-Maxwell-DeBaum American Legion Post #859 will hold the AnnualMemorial Day Parade, kicking off from Lot A, located at the intersection of Orange and Lafayette Avenues, and will continue on Lafayette Avenue to the Soldiers Monument at Washington Avenue. Joining the Veterans will be The Ladies Auxiliaries, the Girl and Boy Scouts, Suffern Police and Fire Departments, Suffern High School Marching Band, and Elected Officials. There will be a ceremony following the Parade at the Soldiers Monument. In the event of rain, the ceremony will be held in Village Hall.

Memorial Day Parade
At 11 a.m. the Carl A. Schelin American Legion Post 1271 will host a Memorial Day parade that will begin at the German Masonic Grounds on Western Highway and end at the Church Green on Washington Street the hamlet of Tappan. Following the ceremonies, the post, along with the Volunteer Fire Association of Tappan, will host the attendees to hot dogs, soda and cookies.

Memorial Day Service
At 11 a.m., the Town of Haverstraw Memorial Day Committee will hold its annual Memorial Day Service at the WWII monument in the Mount Repose Cemetery at the corner of 9W and Route 202.
