NEW YORK IS COMPASSIONATE

To the Editor,

New York state, though not perfect, is the most compassionate state in the union.  Now I believe it is time for our state legislators to show compassion to brothers and sisters who are separated by adoption. Our state legislators should show compassion to families who are separated by adoption by passing the bill, A5464, which will help brothers and sisters who are separated by adoption to become reunited.  A5464 is prime-sponsored by Assemblyman Kenneth P. Zebrowski.  Brothers and sisters, after all, had absolutely no say in the decision to separate them from one another.  Imagine the joy that any adoptee will feel in his/her heart when he greats and embraces the brother or sister he/she hasn’t seen for years or, perhaps, decades.  What harm can come from passing legislation reuniting brothers and sisters who are separated by adoption?  None, I believe.  Only good and happiness will result.  Please, Honorable Members of the Senate and Assembly, please make A5464 law now.

All yours,

Edward Branca
