Dilone Castillo Indicted for Robbery, Other Charges

Dilone Castillo, 19, a resident of 135 Maple Avenue, Haverstraw was indicted on February 27, 2015 by a Rockland County Grand Jury for the crimes of robbery in the second degree and criminal possession of a stolen property in the fifth degree.

District Attorney Thomas P. Zugibe stated that on or about September 2, 2014 at approximately 1:30 a.m., the defendant and several other males, beat up and assaulted a Haverstraw resident who was walking home from a friends house. The victim was cutting through the parking lot of St. Peters School in Haverstraw when he was attacked. In the course of the beating both his cell phone and baseball type hat were stolen from him. A third party who had witnessed the event called the police.

Based upon information put over the police radio responding police officers stopped a vehicle in which the defendant was a passenger a short distance from the crime scene. The defendant was identified by the victim and was found to be in possession of the victims cell phone.

He was arraigned before the Hon. John Grant of the Town of Haverstraw Justice Court. He was held in lieu of $5,000 bail pending future court appearances.
