Brooklyn man arrested with stack of forged credit cards in West Nyack

WEST NYACK – A man was arrested on Friday on suspicion of trying to pass forged items to make a purchase at the Palisades Center Mall.

Hans Themistode, 24, of Brooklyn, was arrested at the mall after he was caught with 11 fraudulent credit cards. Themistode was also allegedly carrying a fraudulent Rhode Island driver’s license.

According to police, the suspect attempted to pass one of the forgeries to buy several gift cards at Aldo Shoes, where it was noticed that the numbers encoded on the security strip did not match the numbers on the card. Themistode fled the store, but was apprehended by Clarkstown Police before he left the mall.

Themistode was slapped with twelve charges of second degree criminal possession of a forged Instrument and eleven counts of first degree identity theft. He was remanded to the custody of Rockland County Jail with bail set at $15,000 and is due in court on February 25, 2015.
