Last week the Town of Haverstraw PD’s highest priority was locating two alleged gunman a woman claimed held her up outside of the Chase Bank on Route 9W in West Haverstraw.  Search helicopters were sent looking for “two black males” on the prowl.

This week an arrest was made, but not who you might expect.

The supposed victim, Dulce Santos, 37-years-old, of Union Street in Haverstraw, was arrested on a charge of grand larceny in the fourth degree and falsely reporting an incident in the third degree.  Police said she was charged after an investigation into the robbery, in which she had reported being robbed by two black males-one armed with a handgun-revealed evidence the incident was a hoax.

Numerous residents have reported on social media that Santos has been the manager of the McDonald’s next door to the bank for many years. Police have yet to explain the facts behind her grand larceny charge.

She was arraigned in the Village of Haverstraw Justice Court and released on $500 bail.

[Note – this article briefly stated that the amount of money stolen was $500. That is not correct. The bail is $500. The police have yet to indicate how much money is missing.]
