SAFE Act puts up to a million outside the law

The NY SAFE Act gun control bill, passed in Jan. 2013, caused up to 1 million New Yorkers to become lawbreakers this week, as the vast majority of gun-owners affected by the rule are believed to have refused to sign up for the bill’s “assault weapon registration.” Failure to register is a “Class A” misdemeanor.

Numerous gun owners have told the Rockland County Times they have no intention of ever registering their weapons. In other news, key parts of the SAFE Act were ruled Constitutional by the NYS Supreme Court this week.
