UnitedHealthcare and Bon Secours Extend Contract to January 31, 2014

SUFFERN, NY (December 31, 2013) – Bon Secours Charity Health System announced progress in negotiations with UnitedHealthcare (UHC) Oxford. Negotiations have been underway for more than 6 months and in order to allow time to complete those discussions the termination date of the current contracts have been extended until January 31, 2014.

“We have reached agreement with UHC on the principal terms of an agreement,” said Mary Leahy, M.D., CEO of Bon Secours Charity Health System. “We are continuing to work through the details of the contract and this extension will allow us time to reach a final agreement.”

The extension will allow patients to continue to receive services through their preferred providers – Bon Secours Medical Group, Good Samaritan Hospital, Bon Secours Community Hospital and St. Anthony Community Hospital.

“We fully expect to remain within the UHC network,” Dr. Leahy said. “It is very important that our patients care is not interrupted and that they continue to have the best medical care in the area.”
