Garnerville – Sparky’s Diner in Garnerville has been confirmed as one site of filming for a big name movie set for release in 2014, produced by Brad Pitt and starring Jonah Hill and James Franco.

The film, titled “True Story,” is being directed by Rupert Goold and produced by Pitt. It stars Franco as Christian Longo, who was on the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted List for the murder of his family when he assumed the identity of journalist Michael Finkel, played by Hill.

The crew ate lunch at the diner Wednesday and scoped out the surrounding area to prepare for shooting, though no actual filming took place. Trailers were sighted at the West Haverstraw Fire Department, but neither the stars nor the director and producer appeared at the diner.

Though the film’s publicist was unavailable for comment, a member of the film crew stated the group will likely return to film in March or April. It is still unknown whether Hill, Franco or Pitt will be physically present in Garnerville at any point.
