ROGUE CORRECTIONS OFFICER ARRESTED

Sheriff Louis Falco III announced that February  7, 2013 at approximately 11 a.m., detectives arrested suspended Rockland County Sheriff’s Correction Officer Daniel Whittaker at his residence at 5A Blue Hill Commons, Orangeburg.

Whittaker was charged with three counts of criminal possession of a weapon, fourth degree (Class A misdemeanors) as a result of a January 9 search warrant of his home. He was found to be in possession of the following items that are outside legal regulations: brass knuckles, a switchblade knife and a stun gun.

Whittaker was processed at Sheriff’s Patrol Headquarters, arraigned at Rockland County Court by Judge William Nelson, released and is due back in court on February 26.

Authorities have been dogging Whittaker, whom they recently accused of possessing cocaine, a charge which he was acquitted of. They searched Whittaker’s Orangeburg home in January because he is a reputed friend of alleged wannabe-terrorist Aaron Greene and his girlfriend Morgan Gliedman.

Mr. Greene and Ms. Gliedman were Greenwich Village residents whom authorities arrested for possession of seven grams of the explosive powder HMTD. Greene had been casing Washington Square Park for a possible terror event, authorities believe.

When police searched Whittaker’s home, they discovered the aforementioned banned weapons.
