SANDY’S AFTERMATH: Spring Valley Gas Station Slapped With Gouging Charge

Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman today announced commenced enforcement proceedings against 12 gas station operators for violations of the New York State Price Gouging statute in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.

Notification letters were sent to 13 gas stations earlier this month bringing the total number of targeted retailers so far to 25.

One of the stations receiving enforcement proceedings today is located in Rockland County: Mobil, 189 Route 59, Spring Valley.

Consumer complaint noted a $4.65/gallon charge, well over market price.

Schneiderman did not note what penalty storeowners might face.
