9/11 REMEMBRANCES

Eleven years ago, on September 11, 2001, the United States was attacked when hijakers crashed a plane into the north tower of the World Trade Center in New York City at 8:46 a.m. At 9:03 a.m., another plane collided into the south tower. At 9:37 a.m., a third plane then crashed into the Pentagon building. We’ll never forget the terrible tragedy—but America will stand together.

September 10

Ramapo 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony
At 7 p.m. at the 9/11 Memorial Plaza at Ramapo Town Hall, located at 237 Route 59 in Suffern, the Ramapo 9/11 remembrance ceremony will be held. Special presentations include 9/11 survivors network and national recording artist, Gia Farrell. The ceremony will be broadcasted live on Cablevision channels 75, 77 or 78, Verizon Fios channel 32 or video-streamed online. September 11

9/11 Haverstraw Memorial Ceremony
At 8:30 a.m. at Haverstraw Bay County Park in New City, all residents invited to honor those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. A memorial ceremony to mark the 11th anniversary of the tragic events will be held. The Haverstraw Bay County Park is open from dawn to dusk and residents are always welcome to visit the memorial during those times.

RCC Dedication Ceremony
From 8 to 9:30 a.m. at Rockland Community College, come to a dedication ceremony to commemorate the Memorial Garden, a centerpiece created from steel artifacts from the World Trade Center. To get your name inscribed with a personal message on a brick, a donation of $100 to the RCC foundation is required. All are welcome. Info: 845-574-4576.

Town of Clarkstown 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony

The Town of Clarkstown will be conducting a Remembrance Ceremony on Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at 5:00 pm at the 9/11 Memorial in the park immediately adjacent to Town Hall.
At the event, Town officials will honor the memory of those who perished on September 11, 2001 and the strength and courage of their families and friends from Rockland who continue to mourn their loss.
The names of the Rockland County individuals who perished will be read by Supervisor Alex Gromack, Town Council Members and Police Chief Sullivan.
Immediately following the ceremony, there will be a reception hosted by The Florian Association of Rockland for families and friends at the American Legion Post 1682 located at 65 American Legion Way in New City.

Town of Stony Point Candlelight Memorial

Service will be held at Stony Point Town Hall at 7 p.m.

Yonkers to Install WTC Beam

At 7:30 p.m. at Conor Park, off McLean Avenue near Central Park Avenue in Yonkers, a 38-foot steel beam from the World Trade Center will be installed as a new 9/11 memorial.

September 15

The Marian Shrine Remembers
At 12 p.m. at the Marian Shrine, located at 174 Filors Lane in Stony Point, a place dedicated to God, a mass and memorial service will be offered. The Marian Shrine is deeply committed to preserving the memory of September 11, 2001. Any organization who would like to join, contact father Bill Bucciferro.
