Large Bag of Heroin 1/11/12

On January 11, 2012 at approximately 8:30 p.m. a Clarkstown Police Officer on routine patrol observed a taxi traveling eastbound on West Clarkstown Rd. in an erratic manner. The vehicle was stopped and one of the police vehicles that were involved with the stop was one of the Clarkstown Police K-9 units. This K-9 dog specializes in drug recognition. As the driver was being questioned the passenger in the vehicle’s rear seat when questioned was unusually nervous, uncooperative, and extremely anxious. The passenger was identified as Roberto Bueno, age 36, from Homer Lee Avenue Spring Valley. Next to the passenger was a shopping bag that the K-9 dog indicated a positive presence odor of drugs. When the bag was searched it was found to contain approximately 1.35 Kilos of Heroin. Bueno was arrested and transported to police headquarters where he was arraigned and remanded to the Rockland County Correctional facility. He was held with no bail to appear in Justice Court at a later date to answer the charge of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 1 degree (felony).

 

 

 

 

 

Grand Larceny 1/12/12

On January 12, 2012 at approximately 7:35 p.m. the Clarkstown Police responded to Sears Nanuet on a report of two shoplifters. The complainant (loss prevention) reported that he observed two females later identified as Cecilia Arrue-Aldana, age 21, and Mayra Fernandez-Pinto, age 19, both from Pearl River take numerous clothing items from store display and hide them in baby strollers they were pushing. The clothing was valued at approximately $1,300. Both of the suspects attempted to leave the store without paying. They were both arrested and issued appearance tickets to appear in Justice Court on February 6, 2012 to answer the charges of Grand Larceny 4 degree (misdemeanor) and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 4 degree (misdemeanor).

 

Shoplifter 1/15/12

On January 15, 2012 at approximately 3:45 p.m. the Clarkstown Police responded to Lord and Taylor Palisades Center Mall on a report of a shoplifter. The complainant (loss prevention) reported he had observed Tarek Khalil, age 21, from Cliffside Park, NJ take several Michael Kors watches from a store display, placing them in a Macy’s shopping bag. He then attempted to leave the store without paying. When apprehended he had 5 of the watches in his possession, which were valued at $1295. Khalil was arrested and transported to police headquarters where he was found also to be in possession of a forged credit card. He was arraigned by Judge Johns who remanded him to the Rockland County Correctional facility in lieu of $3,500 bail. He will appear in Justice Court on January 20, 2012 to answer the charges of Grand Larceny 4degree (felony), Criminal Possession of Stolen Propert 4 degree (felony) and Possession of a Forged Instrument 2 degree (felony).

 

Driving While Intoxicated 1/16/12

On January 16, 2012 at approximately 4:15 p.m. the Clarkstown Police received a report of an erratic driver southbound on Rt. 303 Valley Cottage. A description of the vehicle was broadcasted over the police radio. A short time later a Clarkstown Police Officer stopped the vehicle on Rt.303 Valley Cottage. The driver was identified as Kevin Murphy, age 37, from Oakland NJ. He was administered a field sobriety test at the scene, which he failed. Murphy was arrested and transported to police headquarters where he refused to submit to a breathalyzer test. He was arraigned later in the evening and released on an appearance ticket to appear in Justice Court January 23, 2012 to answer the charge of Driving While Intoxicated (misdemeanor).

 

Counterfeit Bills 1/16/12

On January 16, 2012 at approximately 4:55 p.m. the Clarkstown Police responded to Macy’s Palisades Center Mall. The complainant (loss prevention) reported he had observed Anthony Tapai, age 26, from Orlando FL. Purchase numerous items with $700 in what appeared to be counterfeit $100 bills. He was arrested and an additional 2 counterfeit $100 bills were found on his person. Tapai was arrested and transported to police headquarters where he was arraigned and remanded to the Rockland County Correction Facility in lieu of $15,000 bail. He will appear in Justice Court on January 20, 2012 to answer the charges of Possession of a Forged Instrument 1 degree 9 counts (felony), Petit Larceny (misdemeanor), and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property (misdemeanor).

 

Grand Larceny 1/17/12

On January 17, 2012 at approximately 2:00 p.m. the Clarkstown Police responded to Lord & Taylor Palisades Center Mall on a report of a shoplifter. The complainant (loss prevention) reported he observed a individual take 10 Coach handbags and the handbag display from the store without paying. He entered a vehicle parked in a no parking zone and left the scene southbound on the NYS Thruway. A description of the two suspects and vehicle were broadcasted over the police radio. The Tappan Zee Bridge personnel were notified who slowed traffic at the toll booths and a Clarkstown Police Officer stopped the vehicle just west of the toll booths. The operator of the vehicle and passenger were identified as Brent Reid, age 51, and Arthur Richardson, age 50, both from the Bronx were arrested. The handbags and display rack valued at approximately $2,300 were recovered. Both suspects were transported to police headquarters where they were arraigned and remanded to the Rockland County Correctional Facility in lieu of $25,000 bail. They will appear in Justice Court on January 23, 2012 to answer the charges of Grand Larceny 4 degree (felony), and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 4 degree (felony).
